I was very honored to have musician extraordinaire, Mark Stumme, play guitar on this recording. "Here I'm giving you all my love and you ain't doin' nothing but doin' me wrong!" But in those 90 seconds, it gives you a big dose of doo-wop and tongue-in-cheek indignation: "What'cha Gotta Lose" is a seldom-heard song lasting barely a minute and a half. THE SONG I WORKED UP this week for the album is "What'cha Gotta Lose" by the Dell Vikings - a group primarily known for their megahit "Come Go With Me." As I've continued working on my new album aptly titled, 1958, I'm being constantly reminded of the sheer number of quality songs from that year.Īs I'd mentioned last week, I'm tackling some of the lesser-known releases from that year - tunes not necessarily heard as often as the classic hits but nonetheless just as well-crafted and no less memorable. NOT TO BELABOR THE POINT, but it's almost unbelievable how many great songs were released in 1958. Click above for the Memory Bros' YouTube video of "What'cha Gotta Lose"
